As school is getting out many of you are going to be looking around for things to do. In my opinion music makes the world go round. Without music our lives would me be flat. Many bands are coming to nearby concert houses this summer. Some of the nearby places that are sponsoring concerts this summer are the Knitting Factory, the Idaho Center, the Morrison Center, the Taco Bell Arena and the Botanical Gardens.

The Idaho Botanical Gardens is going to be hosting the “2010 Outlaw Field Summer Concert Series.” The concerts started on May 6th and will go until September 17th. Some of the more known bands and singers that will be shown are: Willie Nelson, Chris Isaak, Jewel, the Barenaked Ladies and Kevin Kirk with Onomatopoeia. The concert series will be held at the base of the Boise foothills at Outlaw field where there will be all the beautiful natural scenery.

The Knitting Factory always has bands playing whether it is winter, summer, fall or spring! Some of the highlights this summer are: Tech N9ne (Strange Day Tour 2010), Flyleaf, Floater, Saving Abel and the many tributes to bands such as Led Zepplin, Sublime and Guns N’ Roses. The first concert I ever attended was at the Knitting Factory a few years ago. It is in the middle of downtown Boise and if you looked at it without knowing what it was you would just think it was a plain building. When you enter it you can either go upstairs to the balcony or downstairs to the concert house.

The place that has the most buzz though is the Idaho Center. The Idaho Center holds graduations, bull riding, motorcycle races and various concerts. Some of the highlights of there summer concert season is going to be: The Eagles, Carrie Underwood with guest Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia, Tim McGraw with guest Lady Antebellum and Love Theft, and the Vans Warped Tour. Most of you are looking forward to the Van’s Warped Tour which will be featuring: up too 100 bands, here are a few of the more popular bands: Bring Me the Horizon, Hey Monday, Reel Big Fish, Suicide Silence, Sum 41, The All-American Rejects, The Untouchables and We the Kings. The first Van’s Warped Tour was in 1995 and they play a newer generations of pop-punk and post-hardcore music.

The Taco Bell Arena will be hosting three country bands around there sports engagements, these bands include Toby Keith with special guest Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean with Luke Bryan. and the Dave Mathews Band with special guest Alberta Cross. The Morrison Center will be hosting many Broadway musicals this summer including: The Color Purple, Wicked, Mamma Mia!, Legally Blonde, and Grease.

Hopefully this article has given you a little insight on what music productions are coming to this great state of Idaho and an anonymous writer once said “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silence.”
