When I was in my younger, more formidable years, I stumbled upon a game that was very amazing in my opinion. It was quite revolutionary for every young boy who ever picked up a Game Boy and learned the word “Pokemon”. It is possibly the greatest Game Boy game to ever hit the market. It has entranced kids from 1996 clear up until the new versions that are still coming out on a yearly to monthly basis; many continuing stories of other off-shoots of the original games. Although there are some new types of games with new people and creatures, they will never hold a candle to the original Pokemon games with the old-school characters.

When I was younger, as I said before, this game entranced me from the time I had seen it. I had all the cards, I had the Game Boy, and I also played it a bunch. So by the time I had time for other things, I had forgotten about the game, the system, everything. Until recently, I hadn’t thought of Pokemon in years. One of my good friends had brought his old Game Boy over and instead of playing other video games we played that. This has renewed my interest in the game. Yes, it may be childish, but its something to do and it almost takes me back to when I was six and couldn’t talk about anything but this game and trading cards and playing with friends and everything in that nature.

Even though I am eleven years older now, I still have fun playing such “lame” games that kids play all the time and I would nearly call it MORE FUN than it was when I was little because back then, if I couldn’t find where to go or who to talk to or what to do, it would irritate me. But now, I have a more patient, relaxed mind that is willing to think through the solutions instead of just getting angry. So I think that being older and playing it is a good idea so you can sort of understand everything you missed beforehand. It gives you another chance to figure out what is going on instead of making it not fun for you.

Although many people disagree with the idea of playing it at such a “mature” age, I think its just fine because it helps you understand something you missed when you were a kid and it helps keep the mind active and thinking instead of just becoming someone who does nothing but kill things on other video games or watch TV all the time instead of thinking through problems. And for the “maturity level” argument there, I think everyone can be very immature at some times and very mature at others so this is a better way to be immature rather than other, more unfortunate opportunities. I mean, let’s face it, nobody wants to see a teenager riding in a grocery store cart and screaming for cookies that mom won’t buy any way you try to say it. Its better to have nice, quiet, mind-working outlet children can use. Hence the Game Boy with the combination of many different Pokemon games on the market today.
